As we close out the athletic calendar for summer, it’s always a time to look back and reflect on this past year. What I want to do is take you on a journey of the last 4 years of this podcast journey. What started as a wrestling podcast with Sean & Neil, turned into something bigger than we could ever imagine. When Wes & I was brought on one of the first “reels” I posted was a video hyping up the show. In that video I said something like, “this podcast drops pipe bombs and has pipe dreams.” The pipe bombs, a reference to CM Punk’s famous promo on Raw before he left WWE, the pipe dreams are what we’re living now.
When we decided to venture into high school sports for our local communities, we didn’t know how well it would be received, if there was a good market for that, or heck if we had the time for that. But from the time we called our first on-site game, the 2023 40th District Championship game, we knew this was something we wanted to do! From Matthew Rowlett pitching a gem that night, to expanding to “The Den” in Menifee County, the next 2 years were an absolute blast! We were able to call Ashtyn Barrett breaking the scoring record at Bath County, saw Menifee County girls basketball beat Rowan County for the first time in a while, and eventually found out how could football tailgating was on “The Hill”! This past season we got to call a Montgomery County Football playoff game along with the 10th Region Tournament that saw Cayden Reed hit a shot that will always be remembered by those in the Mount Sterling community.
As we prepare for what’s to come, we want to take the time to say thank you all! You all have encouraged us, kept us going, and made us feel like we were apart of your communities. We have big plans for next season, and we’re trying to figure out how to see all the talented student-athletes in your communities! You all be looking for us at any event, if you see us come say hi, we love interacting with you all!
Until Next Time,
From Corner2Corner Boys
